Pro-Armenian bill is unacceptable for France both diplomatically and legally, Senator

French Senator Nathalie Goulet has said the Senate`s bill criminalizing the denial of the so-called Armenian genocide is unacceptable for France from both diplomatic and legal points of view.
"France is a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group which mediates in the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. So, France should take a neutral position."
"But the adoption of the bill means that France shares the position of one of the conflicting parties. Undermining relations with Turkey is not in the interest of France. At the same time the bill contradicts the French Constitution," she added.
Goulet said the senators will make every effort to make the French Constitutional Council reject the bill.
