Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Ankara will work in close cooperation with Tehran to counter US sanctions.
In a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the annual UN general assembly meeting, Erdogan called for closer ties between the two countries in the era of US sanctions on Iran.
“We will work hand in hand with Iran and side with Tehran to counter the embargoes,” he said, according to Tasnim news agency on September 25.
Rouhani, for his turn, hailed the active presence of Turkish investors in Iran and called for enhanced mutual cooperation between the two countries.
Erdogan and Rouhani have traveled to New York to participate in the 73rd UN General Assembly Meeting.
